Alternative Provision
Personalised education for children who need something different

Every child deserves to feel safe, understood and capable of learning.

For some children, a mainstream classroom is not currently the right environment. Whether they are experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), anxiety, SEND, exclusion, medical needs, or are awaiting a specialist placement, they still deserve high-quality education that meets them where they are.

I provide personalised one-to-one educational support for children who benefit from an alternative approach.
Working closely with families, schools and professionals, I create calm, structured learning experiences that rebuild confidence while maintaining academic progress.

Who I support

Alternative provision can benefit children who are:
-
Experiencing school anxiety or emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA)
-
Neurodivergent, including autistic learners and those with ADHD
-
Awaiting a specialist school placement
-
Returning to education after illness
-
At risk of exclusion
-
Permanently excluded from school
-
Learning at home while educational arrangements are being made
-
Struggling with confidence or engagement in traditional classroom settings

Every programme is designed around the individual child rather than expecting the child to fit a standard programme.

A personalised approach

With over a decade of classroom teaching experience, I understand that successful learning starts with relationships.
Sessions are adapted to each learner's strengths, interests and current emotional needs. Progress is built through trust, consistency and carefully planned teaching that develops both academic skills and self-confidence.

Support may include:
-
English and Maths tuition
-
Catch-up learning
-
Confidence building
-
Study skills
-
Emotional regulation strategies within learning
-
Preparation for reintegration into school
-
Home education support
-
Flexible daytime sessions

Learning is delivered at the child's pace, celebrating small successes that lead to lasting progress.

Working Alongside Schools and Professionals

I work collaboratively with:
-
Primary schools
-
Secondary schools
-
SENCOs
-
Local Authorities
-
Alternative Provision teams
-
Educational Psychologists
-
Families and carers

Regular communication and progress updates can be provided where appropriate, ensuring everyone involved is working towards shared outcomes.

Most importantly, every child is treated with patience, respect and genuine belief in their potential.

Supporting More Than Academic Progress

Alternative provision is about much more than keeping up with schoolwork.

For many children, the biggest achievement is rediscovering confidence, feeling successful again, and beginning to enjoy learning.

By creating a safe and supportive environment, children can rebuild positive learning habits, reduce anxiety around education and develop the skills they need for their next steps, whether that's returning to school, continuing home education or moving into a new setting.
